Hi, mein Name ist Milena Magerl und ich freue mich sehr über Dein Interesse, unsere Stiftungsarbeit in Mae Sariang im Norden Thailand als freiwillige:r Helfer:in zu unterstützen.

  • What type of volunteer work does the Dr. Robert Dyckerhoff Foundation in Thailand?
    Your duties as a volunteer will include: · Organization of activities and implementation of foundation projects · Help with homework and tutoring, especially in English · Creating a positive and safe environment for the children and young people in collaboration with local staff and other volunteers · Support for the social media activities of the foundation In addition, there are projects primarily in the area of building renovation or new building construction.
  • Are there certain requirements to become a volunteer?
    The minimum age is 18 years. A certain life experience is certainly advantageous. It is an advantage if you are interested in intercultural experiences and Thai culture. Good interpersonal skills, teamwork and a degree of flexibility are also important. Good knowledge of English is required to communicate with the local team. Knowledge of the Thai language is an advantage but not essential.
  • How does the application process work?
    Please apply by email with a cover letter and CV. You will usually receive an answer from us within two weeks. If the application meets our expectations, we will invite you to an online introductory meeting.
  • When can I start as a volunteer?
    In principle, volunteering is possible all year round except in March and April. Ideal times would be October or May.
  • How is on-site support organized?
    In Thailand you will be looked after by our local team. Our employees speak English and will help you with settling in and your projects. They are always at your side as a contact and advisor. We will also be happy to pick you up from Chiang Mai International Airport if required.
  • How long does the volunteer program usually last?
    Minimum commitment is usually 2 months. However, there is also the possibility of staying longer, depending on the needs of the foundation and individual agreements.
  • What is the accommodation like during the volunteer work?
    The Dr. Robert Dyckerhoff Foundation offers free accommodation in a flat share (WG) with other volunteers. In Mae Sariang there are also individual guesthouses and hotels where you can stay relatively inexpensively as a volunteer. The foundation will be happy to help with the selection.
  • How much does it cost to travel to Thailand as a volunteer?
    Costs may vary depending on travel duration, accommodation, meals and personal expenses. In addition, visa fees and flight tickets may apply. It is advisable to create a budget for travel and subsistence expenses and to plan the financial aspects in advance. The foundation offers you free accommodation in a shared flat with other volunteers, a moped as a means of transport and, depending on your qualifications and the length of your stay, up to €200 per month as pocket money. In addition, you can also earn money as an English teacher at the local school if a corresponding agreement is reached.
  • Can I explore the country during my free time?
    Yes, in your free time you have the opportunity to explore the country and its culture. Thailand offers a variety of sights and activities to explore in your free time.
  • Is Thailand a safe country to travel to?
    The region around the city of Mae Sariang in Thailand is considered a safe travel destination that also offers a trustworthy and protected environment for women. With a distinctive atmosphere of hospitality, a low crime rate and a stable social structure, you can feel safe and comfortable here as a volunteer.
  • Are certain vaccinations required to enter Thailand?
    You can find out about necessary and recommended vaccinations and medical precautions on the Foreign Office website Official and on the website of the Center for Travel Medicine. Swiss citizens can find out more on the website of the Federal Department< /u> for foreign affairs. It is strongly recommended that you seek travel medical advice from a specialist well in advance of your trip.
  • Do I need a visa to volunteer?
    If you plan to stay in the country for more than 30 days, you may need to apply for a visa before you leave the country, depending on the length of your stay. If you will be staying in Thailand for up to 30 days, you will receive a Visa on Arrival upon arrival. The tourist visa is valid for 60 days. If you intend to stay in Thailand for more than 60 days, you should apply for a Non Immigrant Visa. A "Non Immigrant Visa" entitles you to a stay of 90 days. You will also receive more detailed information on applying for a visa after you have registered.
